Yods create issues within the charts

In Astrology, a Yod, also known as the "Finger of God" or "Finger of Fate," is a configuration formed by three planets or points, creating a long triangle on the astrological chart. The Yod involves two planets (the sextile pair) in a sextile aspect (60 degrees apart), and both of these planets forming an inconjunct aspect (150 degrees apart) to a third planet (the apex). The inconjunct aspects create a sense of tension and adjustment, while the sextile aspects provide opportunities and talents.

The Yod is considered a significant and often challenging aspect pattern, suggesting a focal point of destiny, unique talents, and a need for adjustment. Individuals with a Yod in their natal chart may feel a sense of inner compulsion or destiny related to the energies of the involved planets.

When there is a Yod in the birth chart, the focal planet is weakened due to the pressure from the inconjunctions. There is usually a feeling of disassociation with the focal planet making it hard to fully connect with it. The focal point can also be the angled houses.

Yods are karmic and can be a challenge within the chart. There is usually a boundary issue that needs to be worked on.

In a Yod formation, the opposition aspect plays a crucial role in creating a dynamic and complex pattern. A Yod consists of two planets in sextile (60 degrees apart) forming an inconjunct (150 degrees apart) to a third planet, which is the apex of the Yod. If there's an opposition involved, it typically means that one of the planets forming the sextile pair is also in opposition to another planet. the diagram above, Jupiter is opposing the focal planet, Neptune.

The opposition aspect (180 degrees apart) adds an additional layer of tension, polarity, and challenges to the Yod configuration. Here's a breakdown of the dynamics:

  1. Sextile Planets: These planets are in a harmonious sextile aspect, suggesting opportunities, talents, and a natural flow of energy between them. This involves Saturn, Moon & Mars.

  2. Opposition: The opposition introduces a polarised dynamic, emphasising a tug-of-war or a balancing act between the energies of the planets involved in the opposition. This is Neptune Opposing Jupiter.

  3. Inconjunct (150 degrees) from the Apex/Focal Planet: Both planets from the sextile pair form inconjunct aspects to the apex planet. This brings a sense of tension, adjustment, and a need to integrate the energies of the planets involved.

The opposition within the Yod can signify conflicting desires, goals, or external influences that the individual needs to navigate. It adds complexity to the overall pattern, requiring the person to find a balance between the opposing forces while addressing the challenges presented by the inconjunct aspects.

Individuals with a Yod involving an opposition may feel a heightened sense of internal and external conflict in the area of life represented by the planets involved. They may experience a sense of destiny or a need to reconcile opposing forces, making the Yod a potent and transformative aspect pattern.
